What is an ADA compliance checker?
In search results it is almost always a WCAG scanner with ADA in the title. The ADA is civil-rights law. WCAG is a technical standard. A useful checker names the engine, lists the failures it can see, and refuses to call the site compliant. Complience.app uses axe-core on a Playwright load. The PDF is dated evidence of machine-testable issues, not a legal stamp.

What you do not get
A lawyer, a VPAT, or a promise that plaintiffs will stay away. Overlay widgets do not provide that either. The FTC ordered accessiBe to pay $1 million over claims that its widget made any website WCAG-compliant. Public lawsuit counts and that order are cited on accessibility statistics.
ADA, WCAG, and automated coverage
US courts often treat WCAG as the practical bar for web access. Automated checkers typically catch a minority of real barriers: they see missing labels and numeric contrast failures, not whether alt text is accurate or a checkout works with a screen reader. Pair the scan with a keyboard pass on money paths. If you need the human document, that is an accessibility audit, not this checker.
Free ADA checker vs overlay
